Lunch and Learn: Modern Midrash Hybrid: Room 208 and on Zoom. Bring your own cold dairy or pareve lunch. RSVP requested.
Thursday, Feb 6th 11:30a to 1:00pFor thousands of years, Jews have been reading old texts and writing new ones. Recently, a group of Israeli women have been adding their own creative voices to the Jewish literary canon. Join Rabbi Kling Perkins to explore Dirshuni, edited by Tamar Biala, a newly published collection of Israeli women’s midrash (creative writing inspired by biblical and creative texts), now out in English translation. We will explore how these women used an old structure to offer new insights and see how those ideas impact our own understanding of the Bible, Judaism, and the world around us. Rabbi Kling Perkins will provide copies of all texts, but you are welcome to order the book if you would like to have it. Come for any or all of the sessions; each stands on its own. This session is for learners of all genders.
