Dear Parents:
Ohev Shalom of Bucks County continues to closely monitor
updates and recommendations from health officials regarding
swine flu. The school is in contact with the Bucks County
Health Department who works under the direction of the PA
Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control.
No confirmed cases of swine flu have been reported in
Pennsylvania, although it is likely that this will change
over time. It is important that members of our community
remain informed on preventative measures and recommendations
from health officials.
Accurate and updated information about swine flu can be
found at the following websites:
The Centers for Disease Control &
Prevention: (http://www.cdc.gov/)
The Pennsylvania Dept. of Health: (http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/)
Bucks County Dept. of Health: (http://www.buckscounty.org/government/departments/HumanServices/HealthDepartment/index.aspx)
Parents who have specific questions regarding the health of
a child, should contact the child’s health care provider or
the Bucks County Dept. of health at 215-345-3318.
The symptoms of swine flu are similar to the symptoms of
regular flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body
aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have
reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.
Please call your child’s pediatrician if your child
experiences flu-like symptoms. It is especially important
that you keep your child home if he/she is feeling unwell
with flu like symptoms. Children can only return to school
once being symptom free for 48 hours. This includes fever
and any other symptoms mentioned..
Reminder, to stay healthy your best defense is frequent hand
washing. Please see the enclosed handout for proper hand
washing procedures. We do currently have Purell dispensers
located in between each classroom at adult height for adult
use only. All children will have their hands washed
immediately upon entering their classrooms and frequently
throughout the day. Finally, do not touch your eyes, face,
or mouth and remind your child of the proper way to sneeze
and cough into their elbow.
Finally, remember that we are here to safely care for your
child. If you have any questions please call or stop in.
Sincerely,
Lori-An Penchansky
